Minor in African Studies

Program Description

The Minor in African Studies exposes undergraduates to the study of the African continent through UO courses and outside of class experiences. The program is multi-disciplinary and affiliated faculty members come from departments and colleges ranging from Journalism and Biology to History and Anthropology. Intellectual community is built through activities such as the African Studies Lecture Series, which brings in leading thinkers to deliver formal talks; the Acacia Seminars, which provide undergraduates a venue to discuss their research and study abroad experiences, and evening social events such as musical performances and film screenings.
